This is a _better_ proposal than the one offered by Russia via the United States, but still pretty far off of a _good_ proposal. Russia would emerge largely victorious; a damaging blow for stability.

Ukraine _already had_ "robust legally binding security guarantees" under the Budapest accord.

As usual, a terrific thread
A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

This was a battle of optics which Mamdani won resoundingly. If you think this was some kind of victory for "normalising fascism" or whatever, it's worth noting that MAGA influencers are crashing out about this.

*They* don't think it's a Trump victory. Don't pretend it is on their behalf.
if you guys are ditching mamdani after he managed to throw the entire fucking republican party into complete total chaos and disarray while they rip each other apart, got trump to admit he's a fascist on-screen, and might've got him to leave ny alone for now with one meeting....... yall, come on

Behind this important reversal is a member of the Coast Guard who saw what was happening and had the courage to leak it to the press. That person deserves serious praise.

Any compsci paper that opens with "In Book X of The Republic, Plato excludes poets on the grounds that mimetic language can distort judgment and bring society to a collapse" has my full attention, as a philosophy degree person working in compsci :)

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

my main issue with this among others is that 2028 is going to require major, major political reforms. And Bazelon is too much of an idiot to realize that his brand of politics isn't a magic wand to winning over voters as much as he rails against pure economic populism

Someone here put "Road to Empress" into my feed, and I am having a blast with this one—it's a modern take on that 90's FMV adventure game genre, updated with insane CDrama production values, a neat historical context, and a bit of a "dating sim" aesthetic.

Just finished _The Seance of Blake Manor_ — what a great gothic horror / investigative adventure game!

Truly top-notch storytelling, excellent use of historical framing, and some quite interesting mechanics married to a confident visual style I quite like.
