Because of the way hypnosis is often portrayed it is easy to think that hypnotists can take over your mind and make you do things.

It does sound corny but hypnosis can be a truly life-changing present.
A session could help someone:
😰 learn how to reduce their anxiety
😴 get better sleep
🚭 change a habit
😱 overcome a phobia

😂 Or of course it could simply be for fun
😊 or relaxation

Your intestines contain over 500 million nerve cells that are directly connected to your brain through the "gut-brain axis."

At the weekend I took part in a charity event raising money for @stpetershospice. For 3 hours I was teaching people (in 20 minute taster sessions) how to use EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).

There is an interesting gender divide between men and women when it comes to hypnosis. More women are likely to use it for hypnotherapy but more men are likely to volunteer for stage hypnosis.

A few weeks ago I was listening to some podcasts and two separate ones referenced the story about putting a frog in water and by heating the water up slowly the frog doesn't realise and gets boiled.

Most people would expect someone in hypnosis to be sitting or lying down looking physically relaxed. But that isn't always the case. Relaxation is just one way of achieving hypnosis &, if you find it difficult to relax, probably the least helpful way.

What does hypnosis feel like?

That's a tricky one to answer as it can vary depending on the person and the suggestions given. The experience most people can probably relate to is similar to daydreaming, when your mind drifts between different thoughts.
