Just got word that one of our NOAA grants just got pulled. The title included the word "equity" so no surprise, but the rationale stated in the letter was so mealy-mouthed. If I were Department of Commerce staff I'd be mortified to sign my name to any of these letters withdrawing support.

Ontem ao passar na 2ª circular a caminho de casa, vi o trânsito cortado pela polícia para deixar passar o autocarro de um clube de futebol. Pensei que era um motivo bastante fútil para cortar o trânsito, mas não vi ninguém indignado. Depois lembrei-me dos putos da climáximo a serem arrastados 1/

I was an incarcerated wildland firefighter. I served with the LA County Fire Department while I was in prison. We fought fires just like the current Palisades fire.
As compensation, I was paid $1/hr to fight the fires and was released 18 months early.
