I wrote a library called 'bettermap' for this very reason.

It’s an extension of the actual map with thread safety and a periodical "garbage collection" by moving everything to a new map.

It’s stupid, but it works (for me).

I tell people, “Internet anonymity is like a bike lock, in that it will only deter people who aren’t willing to cut off a bike lock”

People really underestimate how much of remaining anonymous is based on "not giving anyone a reason to think it's worth their time figuring out who you are"

As my first quarter of college wraps up, I wanted to share a few personal wins outside of class…

1️⃣ Built a new personal website

I believe I need to set strict limits on the media I consume. With the rapid advancements in machine learning and AI, our thinking is increasingly being influenced by the content these technologies feed us. And if not controlled properly, very soon there will be no free will.

Most experiences I have in the real world, outside, away from my computer, makes me believe people are kind by default. One smile is all it takes to get one in return. People paying attention, present in the moment, tend to be ready to help, and often do.

It’s time to stop hiring freshers in Bangladesh Civil Service jobs. Require at least 5-8 years of job experience in related field. That would at least push this herd of unemployed people to do something productive in their life.

I want a phone that sits right between smartphones and dumbphones. Like a phone that doesn’t have any of the big corporations’ privacy trap.

More or less, it should be something like the Nokia feature phones with a touchscreen sized as today’s iPhone.

What’s the Substack thing going on? I don’t like the idea of “banning” anything. “Muting” can be a good enough approach.
