Trying to focus my energy on what matters in life: hoops
If I had power in the NBA I would simply troll the stars nonstop and shame them into participating in the dunk contest

Bill Simmons did this
The NBA fined the Jazz $500,000 for conduct detrimental to the league for its roster management on Feb 7 and Feb 9 for not playing Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. in the 4th quarters.

The Pacers were fined $100,000 for sitting Pascal Siakam and 2 other starters against the Jazz on Feb. 3.

Here's what DHS doesn't want you to know: Working for ICE is one of the safest jobs in America — and last year was the second-safest year for the agency on record.

And the doxxing? It hasn't actually happened even once.

The masks are justified by a lie. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-s-mask...
ICE's Masks Are All a Lie
Working for ICE is actually less dangerous than being an elementary school student in America.

I can’t do the whole “submit every broken water fountain to hub” thing again when they just never fix the broken ones. Begging literally any CM to ask parks for an audit of water fountains. This is such a basic public amenity. Everyone knows the current situation is trash and nothing is done.

We’re going to hell for this.
Super Bowl viewers Sunday speculated that 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos appeared in the halftime show. In fact, he has been in hiding with his family.

“He can’t sleep well at night. He wakes up three or four times a night screaming, ‘Daddy, Daddy,’” Liam's father Adrian Conejo Arias, said.
‘He’s not the same’: Father of Liam Conejo Ramos says 5-year-old continues to suffer
Some people thought they say the 5-year-old during the Super Bowl halftime show. But Liam is still in hiding with his family, after he and his father were detained and then released from a Texas deten...

This is outstanding work. It’s hard to move this kind of money out of a budget cycle. Big gratitude to @freddieoconnell.bsky.social for directing folks to shake the couch cushions. It’s a huge statement about whose needs are valued and who matters.
Great to see Metro step up with a $750k donation of unspent ARPA funds for eviction prevention to Metro Action Commission.

It’s crazy that success/impact largely comes down to whether someone does or does not have the dog in them and there is zero way to quantify that.

In my opinion these people are the real heroes of the resistance to ICE. There’s no credit, no one can talk about their work (because they directly contact vulnerable families). It’s expensive and dreary and neverending. ICE follows them around. But they refuse to abandon their neighbors

Kudos to schools for doing a little survey action and then actually making a change. Pretty swift stuff. I know it wasn’t what some wanted but progress now is better than analysis paralysis

Please beware of anyone who pitches a “if metro just did this” single solution to housing affordability. It’s a shallow way of thinking. It’s not true. People can find their lanes for advocacy but please don’t trust someone who says “this is the only thing that’s needed”.

I’m stunned how much of excellence in life is just effort. People at all levels make excuses, blame others, just check out. And when you don’t do those things you’re exceptional. Talent really doesn’t have much to do with it. This is a tweet about Cooper Flagg.

I can’t speak for all YIMBYs but for myself-using your time to keep people/housing out of your neighborhood is not in the same universe as keeping a data center out of your neighborhood. I know the difference and it’s that human life matters and ai is fake.
4. I’ve spent some time tracking and attending local populist responses to ai data centers. Despite some critiques from left that it’s all repackaged “nimby bullshit” (as I’ve been told), I have seen organic multiracial coalitions on this issue. Esp. in places with strong environmental racism orgs

Ask the average person how the myriad of call lines and patient portals and digital lab results and virtual “care” is going. The only people who believe this “the cure for bad policy choices is bad tech” nonsense are people who are insulated from the impacts. These mfers all use concierge care.

This is why I don’t buy it whole hog when nashville folks cowtow to the state. There are other options.
The Trump administration is no longer trying to get cash from Harvard as it seeks a settlement. At this point, the White House seems happy to get a signature on anything they can call a compact.
