It's so funny seeing people from the global north losing their shit over the MINOR inconvenience of EES when traveling to Europe. The rest of us have to pay extra, make a blood sacrifice and fill out 1000 forms before we can even think of traveling here

I've been paying €12 a month for a @theguardian.com (digital/Apple) subscription for years, and now I can't read anything on their website without either accepting a bunch of ad cookie nonsense or paying another €5 a month?! Guess I'll be saving €17 a month from the end of October. The nerve.

It is a deliberate policy: for two years now, Berlin’s mayor has chosen not de-escalation units but riot police – officers known for routinely unleashing extreme levels of violence against anti-genocide protesters; week after week, day after day.
🇩🇪🇵🇸 #WATCH | German police have escalated the violence used against peaceful protesters, who bravely take to the streets demanding an end to the Israeli genocide in Gaza.

One of my favourite German words to say aloud is Flurfunk. It describes gossip or rumours that spread through the workplace and means, literally, "hallway radio."

On a related note, a Finnish word for gossipers is kahvipöytäparlamentti. It means "coffee break parliament."

My mother is an organist (she plays in church every Sunday) and she was talking about doing more fun music because she's bored with hymns/psalms, so I bought her the sheet music for Cornfield Chase so I can have my own personal Anna Lapwood.
