I was explaining to my Ukrainian colleague the phrase ‘There’s no such thing as a free lunch’. She told me the equivalent in Ukrainian is ‘The only free cheese is in the mousetrap’ - which is so much better

This is the best video I’ve seen in ages! In it, Rationality Rules zooms in on a debate between Kirk and a Cambridge student about homosexuality. The student uses crystal-clear logic to expose Kirk’s inconsistencies, while the video itself calls out his evasive techniques.

Mark only some parametrize cases as xfail—using any logic you want!
Get XPASS detection & keep your tests maintainable.
I made a general helper for this—check out the code & examples in my gist:

🌍 89% of people worldwide want stronger climate action—but most think they're alone.

🔎 A global survey across 125 countries reveals that nearly 9 in 10 people support more climate action, yet many falsely believe they're in the minority.

Hi there,
The ultra-rich pay next to nothing in taxes, while many of us struggle with high energy bills and our climate is spiralling out of control. Agree that enough is enough? Join me in demanding a new wealth tax! act.350.org/sign/g20-wea...

Literally all he did was quote someone. Defining criticism of the government as treason is what authoritarians do. Turning a publicly funded news outlet into a state media propaganda machine is what authoritarians do.

💻 Just got remembered that "knowing" how to program really is knowing where to find your informations. 🔍

🧠 The true skill isn't memorizing every function - it's knowing where to search for solutions when you need them! #codingtruth

Very happy that our paper (w/ @dziblatt.bsky.social & E Dinas) has been accepted @bjpols.bsky.social .

We've seen the center right increasingly adopt far-right rhetoric.

Our experiment in 🇩🇪 finds that this erodes anti-prejudice norms *more* than when the far-right employs similar rhetoric.

📚 Just watched "Die Welle" at @DasDaTheater in Aachen. A thought-provoking theatrical experiment showing how fascism can take root in any society - even today. Based on a real 1967 classroom experiment, it feels unnervingly relevant watching it in 2025.

🧠 Fascinating deep dive on the #MindscapePodcast right now! @seanmcarroll and Lilliana Mason explore the science behind political polarization in America through a unique theoretical lens. Their discussion connects political psychology to the current landscape in surprisingly illuminating ways.

My engagement with the latest LLM models is being dialled back to playing them at Rock, Paper, Scissors every once in a while...

Until they figure out how I keep winning, despite very graciously letting them go first every round.
