I had an epiphany after reading Matt's latest piece on AI art. It sits in the uncanny valley: if you know it’s fake, it’s fun. If you don’t, you’re too clueless to care. The letdown we experience isn’t due to the image itself, it’s realizing something that made you feel something never existed.

What freaks me out the most about the Adriana Smith case is, what if the baby is born healthy (or mostly healthy), and some pronatalist gets the idea that brain-dead women can be used to breed more babies. Those wombs won't demand human rights.

Can confirm. I look at shipping charts because I'm a nerd like that, and LA/Long Beach (main west coast port for container ships out of China) has a distinct lack of yellow dots anchored in the green dashed zones, where they wait until there's room to unload/load at a dock. That never happens.

I'm thinking about how tonight was probably the first time Kilmar Abrego Garcia learned that millions of people care about him - the first time he learned that the United States Supreme Court ruled 9-0 to bring him home.
