Sexagenerarian.
Deactivated Twitter as combo of antisemitism + adverts + bad faith accounts/fake news is doing my head in.

Not sure how long I’ll last here tbh. I hear the antisemitism here is particularly smug/moralistic?
Will see how it goes.

Why have the guardian given up on arguing for cutting fossil fuels? AC is electrical. If you generate electricity via solar, wind, hydro or nuclear it's clean. Build more of that.

I don’t know if anyone here can see this.
Terribly sad.
Those poor children and their parents and families.
The poor hostages.
The hell of mass torture, inflicted on a race.

You don't get to choose which bits of reality you believe in . Those telling me trans-women are 'biological women' What do you say when Trump's the war in Ukraine is Zelenskyy's fault? Or to those who say vaccines dont work or climate science is a lie. Reality is inconvenient. Deny it at your peril

One interesting difference between Twitter & Bluesky - which I acknowledge is in part down to who I choose to follow on each forum - is that I would not have known about Hamas offering to release Shiri, Ariel & Kfir Bibas only to then announce they are all dead. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...
Hamas says it will hand over bodies of Bibas family and free six hostages
Remains of Shiri Bibas and young sons Kfir and Ariel, whose deaths had not been confirmed, to be returned on Thursday

The body of Oded Lifshitz, an octogenarian kibbutz member, will be returned to Israel tomorrow. “He was an activist for the Palestinians all his life” says his wife Yocheved, herself a returned hostage, “and his reward from them was abduction and death in agony”.

Dipped in here briefly from X.

Has The Guardian launched its own social media platform?

How any Tory can whine about Labour's fiscal prudence after supporting this is beyond me.
In July, I FOI'd the Home Office for the full breakdown of spending on the Rwanda scheme

I was refused because the government planned to publish the data in future, and today is the day. These numbers are in millions

It’s exactly the time we should be rejoining. To work with and support other progressive parties in finding ways of fighting the far right.

If you search the words “Supreme Court Scotland” on this platform you’ll hear nothing about women’s valid and evidenced concerns re the erosion of their rights.

BlueSky making X look good, frankly.

The Supreme Court is today holding a hearing to decide what a woman is - in other words, whether "sex" in the Equality Act means biological sex or whether a man who identifies as female can opt into Equality Act protections normally reserved for females.

As a man, I find the term #VAWG problematic when really we all know we are talking about #MVAWG (Male Violence Against Women & Girls)

#TheSilentM is a problem, IMO

Too many ‘M_ _’ are silent

We should speak the ‘M’

Everyone should be aware of just how censorious Bluesky is- labelling important legal analysis relating to an imminent Supreme Court case as “intolerance”. Absolutely bonkers and reminiscent of Twitter in the good old days.
Utterly absurd, and wrong, that this post is marked by @bsky.app as "intolerance". In reality it consists of links to serious legal analysis, from someone whose opinion you might agree or disagree with.
I've done a quick round-up of pre-reading for anyone interested in following FWS v Scottish Ministers next week: www.legalfeminist.org.uk/2024/11/23/f...

I haven't been able to find any substantial commentary arguing that SG should win. Please link in reply if you know of any, and I'll add it.
