Ran some comparables for Marner's playoff production from 2023 to 2025 (3 years) at Even Strength.
Pretty strong argument that he's amongst the most overpaid players in the league. Absolutely awful comparables, with an average cap hit south of $5m. The only one close is J. T. Miller at $8m. Oof.

It's pretty clear that the Jays really turned a corner once Marner was sent packing. Just saying...

At this rate, Stolarz is neck and neck with Hellebuyck in terms of per game impact.
So, the Leafs took the best team in the league, by far, to game 7, and they're about to get significantly better after tossing Marner to the trash heap...

Listened to the most recent podcast, and wanted to point out a structure for Tavares where his cap hit is about $1m less than what he is paid over the first 4 years. In the pic, it's $4m, with a $3.1m AAV. Works similar at $5m (~$4m AAV). Thoughts?

It is incredibly important for people to realize that the play Max Domi makes here is critical to winning in the playoffs, and it's also why he's a much better value player than Marner, who will literally never make this type of play.

I find it very difficult to believe that the Leafs can get materially better by paying Marner even more than he is currently making.
This is literally how the team looks with him playing his absolute best. They're really good. But that's it.
