I understand that we as academics use complex sounding words so that we can be more specific and exact in our language but can we normalize explaining things with normal people words.

I just read the phrase "raciolinguistic enregisterment" four times, and now my brain hurts.

Remember this picture every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."

This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s.

Many of the cities we admire made better choices regarding cars in the past. and are still making better choices today.

Better choices instead of excuses.

“a large group of funny, talented trans posters were the earliest adopters of Bluesky and were able to forge the platform into what it is today: funny, frequently horny, and with very strong moderation tools. If you like Bluesky’s vibe right now, thank a trans person,” journalist Katelyn Burns said

Me: All right, guys, we're reading chapter 5 today.

4th grader: I already read it.

Me: You did? When?

4th grader: at home.

Me: at home?

4th grader: yeah. I got my mom to help be bootleg a copy so I could find out what happens next.

I mean... at least they're reading, right?

Hi.
I'm bad at social media.
And moving to boston to protect my cool trans husband 🏳️‍⚧️

Um... immigrants are cool. We should be nice to them.

Bilingual education is good, actually.

Also, I write middle grade fiction. But not well enough to be published.

So.

...

Bye.
