I’m off work for a week, and I think I might go see a couple of movies, try to read a book or two or three, get some BBQ, bake some cookies, go to an owl-themed event at a local wildlife sanctuary, go to the barber, and crack open the bottle of blackberry mead I’ve been saving.

I’m watching the new Peacock show The Paper which is very vaguely a spin-off of The Office. This first season so far is closer in tone to the similar sitcom Parks & Recreation. I’m enjoying it so far, but I have to confess my favorite bit so far is an extended goof about Elmore Leonard novels.

I saw The Silence of the Lambs on the big screen for the first time tonight, and Jonathan Demme’s close-ups are really something else on a giant screen.
