Funny; moving; balanced; knowledgeable.
He is an excellent writer.

I’ll start with two of my favourites.
One, the John Adams miniseries contains some really great trial scenes from the Boston case Adams defended and they culminate in some excellent speeches:

Just a message to say that i really enjoyed John&Paul.
If I'm frank, I wasn't sure that there was much more I could learn about them but I was wrong.
Your writing has made me hear a lot of those songs in a new way
It was a very moving book and I will miss reading it

Loved both Shakespeare's; loved The Dubliners; Loved OFOTCN.
Couldn't stand the rest. Makes me a philistine, don't care.

Could a Scotsman have fought both against the Crown at Newburn and against the new regime at Dunbar ten years later?

There seems to have been a lot of interest in this period recently - The Blazing World; Devil Land; The Restless Republic; the new Ronald Hutton.
This is right up there with the best of them: accessible but informative; really engaging. Recommended.

Twitter is great at it; Bluesky is not
Anyone got any ideas?
But he admits that it's a "hard habit to break", especially when it continues to be a breaking news source
Other MPs are worried about losing reach
@patrickhurley.bsky.social wants Gov to start making announcements on Bluesky

So I will be brave and admit that until about 5 years ago, I had never read Slaughterhouse Five.
I write this message just on the off chance that someone sees it and hasn't read the book. READ IT. 1/2

A question for you:
The Offences Against The Person Act (1861) set the same max penalty (5 years) for ABH (Section 47) and the ostensibly more serious offence of Wounding/GBH (Section 20).
I have heard that this was the result of an error.
Is this true?

Really good on housing and modern political issues. Very worth a follow!
I have a new podcast series out on November 18th about Britain’s housing crisis and much more - how we got into this mess and the human impact.
It will be called ‘The Trapped’ and will be available on all podcast platforms. Would love you to listen
