oh man guys why is gustavo petro saying this is a distraction he should stop saying its a distraction or he's complicit
Colombian President Petro commenting on the US;

“A clan of pedophiles wants to destroy our democracy. To keep Epstein's list from coming out, they send warships to kill fishermen & threaten our neighbor with invasion for their oil."

imo the era of slave power dominance during polk-buchanan was easily the closest american democracy has come to destruction and the present doesn't come close. slave power had grassroots organization willing to use violence with a coordinated plan of action to turn america into a slaver oligarchy
the best rough analogue in us history is the antebellum period when pierce and buchanan were slowly pushing slave power- defend what you can and prepare to take back power while putting yourself in the best position to do so. unfortunately terrible things will happen and you cant stop them

imo ruben gallego is the best possible vp for pritzker or van hollen or any other progressive coded nominee and his reaction today demonstrates why- i wouldn't want him as president and he has a lot of positions i greatly disagree with but he's a real person in a way most senate moderates aren't

checking in on how khive is doing
He's the trendy shade of brown...easily exploited for a meme of the week by the Leftist cohorts. While... she is still a black woman...which is still kryptonite to leftism, as its too realistic and honest.

berserk deluxe edition volume 1
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

least ineffectual doomer plan of action
Not sticking my head in the sand and saying "it'll never happen!"

Probably the biggest thing I'm doing to prepare.
January 1, 2026 at 10:18 PM
It would be hard to pull off due to all the action already taking place but I think a movie that’s quasi real time on an election night from the pov of the candidate capturing all the anxiety and triumph could go really hard
friends don't let friends look at USA exit polls

Berserk is a more successful feminist text than promising young woman
Everyone post your worst takes right now while Sharon is drunk

biggest issue with hope imo is that if you have a good presidency you almost always get buchanan. icarus, obamanation, american carnage and w all have a few different opponents you can face depending on how exactly you go about getting successes, which lets you replay without playing suboptimally

It’s my view that guts berserk and huntrix would be friends

i think this is what is actually meant by the title in that previously judaism could have the moral comfort of having never done anything bad due to having never been in power and this situation has changed now
Every major religion & ideology has a veritable litany of atrocious deeds that can be laid at its feet, because these things inspire human beings to action and human beings being human some of them will be inspired to do dreadful things. It is not some unique stain upon Judaism. Deal.

the 2027 elections in the united provinces of china promise to be some of the most consequential in the party's history. incumbent china democratic league president Wu Mi has seen her progressive agenda flounder in the face of automation, rising prices, and a wave of refugees from war-torn india

2012 might not be a very good movie but there truly is no movie that better fills the niche of having characters in it that resemble potential 2028 democratic presidential candidates

update: no, you have to pass the crime bill to get universal healthcare plus all the other goodies here- it MIGHT be possible to avoid it if you throw gay people under the bus, but this does seem to be the ideal hope timeline
this is, i think, the best possible timeline in hope. defended lgbt rights, passed universal healthcare, overthrew milosevic, put israel on the path towards peace, generally stayed a liberal, and beat buchanan by 34.6 points and 538 evs. only issue is 1994 crime bill still gets passed

Related it it’s a real shame that 20th century boys will never get an anime because the plot revolves around a shadowy conspiracy implanted deep in the government that uses a staged terrorist attack at the start of the millennium and a virus as an excuse to take over the entire world
the 'conspiracies are actually real' rpg was very common in the 1990s but I think it's considerably harder to do today because conspiracy beliefs (and the attendant, inevitable anti-semitism) are an obviously malignant political force
I love learning about the little ins and outs of conspiracy and occult lore - the key is to always remember it's not actually real, at best it's real in a "this is a belief some people act on".

Once you actually start thinking there are Secret Masters out there, things go... bad.

big city afl-cio lawyer returns home on a case against the local car dealership owner for abusing his workers, and rekindles her relationship with his son; they split bc of his dad's influence. ultimately he helps her win the case and they move back to the city where he pursues his passion for art
Yes. Make this. Make “Sweet Home Alabama” but she’s reminded that her hometown sucks, her high school boyfriend is an asshole, everyone there is a bigot, and there’s nothing to do there but drink. So she goes back to the new city life she’s built, with renewed gratitude.
unironically a good idea

I am not watching Pluribus but I am enjoying discourse on TikTok where half the people are "I don't like Carol because she's a white colonizer trying to promote individuality over collectivism" and the other half are "guys what the fuck the alien virus that wiped out all the people is the colonizer"
Pluribus seems like a fun TV show but I refuse to pay for Apple TV again until they un-cancel Schmigadoon, a show that approximately 97 people watched, including me.
