Often unremarked but the crisis in Iran seems to be linked to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Russia was too weak to continue to defend Syria and the resultant collapse of Assad was a major crisis for Iran which had invested and lost $50 billion.
There's other factors too but this was pretty serious.
