Delray is a neighborhood in southwest Detroit. Its inhabitants were primarily Hungarian and Polish immigrants at the time of the village's incorporation in 1897.

Today, it's primarily vacant lots and industry.

This week's video is on the German Seventh Day Adventist Church, which has stood at the corner of Sylvester and Field since 1926. By the late 1950s, it was home to Miles Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.

Drone just TOOK OFF today while on a shoot. No rhyme or reason. Luckily, it stayed connected to my phone so I could see where it landed and a resident let me go into their backyard to get it. Wild experience, wouldn't recommend.

I cut the shit out of my thumb on Thursday. There was blood everywhere. I was worried I'd have to go in to have it patched up. Instead, I wrapped the hell out of it with Pokemon bandaids. Just took them off for the firs time, and it's safe to say that Meowth, Magicarp, and Kabutops did their jobs.

Though mostly forgotten today, George Hammond was one of the first entrepreneurs to transport meat on ice across the country using an ice box. His massive facility in #Detroit, of which only one building still stands, is a testament to that innovation. Check it out: youtu.be/r8tT2dSZumQ

HELP! Looking for a lawyer to donate their time (or discount it at the least) for a project my community is working on. We're organized and dedicated, but we need legal help. I won't get too far into it, but we're trying to save a building so the community can use it in perpetuity. #Detroit

If you lived in Detroit 100 years ago, you probably lived withing walking distance of a handful of small, independent theatres. Today, there are hardly any left. This week's video covers that topic and, more specifically, the Zellah Theatre. Check it out: youtu.be/DvHVK6AF__0

IMO, Palmer Park could be one of the best and trendiest neighborhoods in the ENTIRE Midwest if redeveloped properly. The city needs to do everything possible to promote the proper development of the district. There's nothing else like it in Metro Detroit. Detroit needs density. PALMER PARK HAS IT!!!
Starting in 2020, an Arizona-based company bought 21 Palmer Park apartment buildings. Today, they're all foreclosed, highly distressed and unable to sell at rock-bottom prices. Huge blow to the historic neighborhood.

EGLE has issued a hazardous waste operating license to US Ecology Detroit South. It was operating without one since 2008. Proof that no matter how many people show up and say they don't want something in their neighborhood, money does what it wants. I've never met a single person in favor of this.

It is official; I opted for the more expensive health plan from work this year. It's still a garbage plan, but if you see me at all in 2026, slap me in the face and tell me to go to the doctor so I don't waste my money.
