While SNAP recipients have begun to receive a portion of their disbursements, families and food banks will need a few weeks to recover from the federal government shutdown. Community members can help their neighbors (and prepare for the holiday season!) with continued support for Feed More.

Henrico's government offices & courts will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. Join us in honoring all who have served in our nation's armed forces.

Trash pickup will not occur. It will resume Wednesday, Nov. 12 on a 1-day delay through the week. The public-use areas will be open Tuesday.

Voting has gone smoothly all day in Henrico, General Registrar Mark Coakley said. As of 2 p.m., 23% of the county's 249,864 registered voters had cast ballots today. He expected overall turnout to reach 60% - slightly higher than the 59% from '21. Polls will be open until 7 p.m.

Henrico opened today a 3rd early-voting site, at Varina Area Library. Voting will be available 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Oct. 31. Early voting also is available at the registrar's offices at Henrico's government centers. Info: henrico.gov/registrar/

Since February, Bungalow City Firehouse 23 has enhanced fire protection & emergency medical response in eastern Henrico. Today, officials celebrated the station & its new fire engine.

“It’s already proven its worth,” Varina Supervisor Tyrone Nelson said of the station.

Henrico is the 1st public utility to hold “quadruple AAA” status for water & sewer bonds. That means top scores from the 4 main rating agencies & “the lowest possible interest rate when it goes to the bond market” to finance projects, Board Chair Dan Schmitt said.
