With its offices closed today for inclement weather, Henrico has extended the deadline for tax payments that were originally due Friday, Dec. 5. The deadline, which applies to second installment payments of real estate & personal property taxes, is now Monday, Dec. 8.

Henrico & the Capital Region Land Conservancy have partnered to preserve 6 acres of wooded property for expanded public access by Roslyn Hills Park. The land was part of Ziontown, a Black community that was established following emancipation & thrived into the 1960s.

At Tuesday's board meeting, the Board of Supervisors voted to adopt an ordinance that establishes an animal cruelty registry and approved a provisional use permit for a solar power facility at the former landfill in Varina.

Henrico’s personal property & real estate tax bills for the second half of 2025 are due Friday, Dec. 5.

Payments can be made online, by phone, by drop box and in person at both the Henrico Government Center (4301 E. Parham) & the Eastern Government Center (3820 Nine Mile).

Henrico's offices & courts will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27 & Friday, Nov. 28 for Thanksgiving. Refuse collection will not occur Thursday & will resume Friday on a 1-day delay through the week. The public-use areas will be closed Thursday & open Friday.

Progress update: The construction of the second entrance to Glover Park is underway! 👩‍🔧

Shared-use pathways and the second park entrance on Woodman Road are currently being paved. This portion of the project is expected to be completed in December.

An original painting of education pioneer Virginia E. Randolph has come home on a loan from Hampton University. Sidney Dickinson's work was commissioned after Randolph earned the William E. Harmon Award for Distinguished Achievement in Education in 1926.

Henrico County officials scattered handfuls of seeds today to celebrate the start of a community farm in Varina. Farmers will be able to apply to use plots as small as a quarter- or half-acre, beginning in late fall, at runnymeadefarm.com.

With its new second level, the NOVA Aquatics Center-Regency is poised to compete for large, prestigious swim meets to further enhance sports tourism in Henrico. The expansion provides mezzanine seating for 1,000 spectators, a larger swim shop & a community room.
