Toch wel merkwaardig dat het NOS journaal hiermee opent. Het gaat om eerste gegevens, er is geen controlegroep en het eindpunt is pijn dat erg gevoelig is voor placebo-effecten. Interessant, maar eerst maar eens netjes uitzoeken. Zeker geen voorpaginanieuws nos.nl/artikel/2601...

While labels list dozens of possible risks only four are supported by evidence, say researchers
Almost all side-effects listed for statins are not caused by the drugs, according to the world’s most comprehensive review of evidence.
Other than the well-known risks around muscle pain and diabetes, only four of 66 other statin side-effects listed on labels – liver test changes, minor liver abnormalities, urine changes and tissue swelling – are supported by evidence. Tja zeg, wat een idioten die farmaceuten. Elke keer proberen nieuwe geneesmiddelen te ontwikkelen voor een ziekte die vaak niet goed te behandelen is. Blijkbaar kan professor de Boer van te voren voorspellen hoe succesvol een nieuw molecuul is.
De farmaceutische industrie ontwikkelt voortdurend nieuwe darmmedicijnen. Wat hebben patiënten daaraan? „Je zou moeten kijken of het beter werkt dan de bestaande medicatie. En dan is het antwoord dus: niet of nauwelijks.”
