New paper out from our lab, led by Sinchan Banerjee.
Foliimonas ilicis, a new genus/species within Phyllobacteriaceae.
It's a carbon monoxide degrading bacterium isolated from holly which only has the putative 'form 2' CO dehydrogenase.

Hello @mattwestern.bsky.social, please attend the briefing on climate change and national security.
In 2021, the Gov warned we “could lose control of our climate for good” beyond 1.5°C.
Now, the CCC says “prepare for 2°C by 2050”
This huge shift in just 4 years calls for a new plan.
MPs can only make sound decisions to protect us if they’re briefed.
Is your MP attending?

Are you taking the train to Brasil? asks Laura #Kuenssberg demonstrating her dismissal of the sustainability agenda.
That, and her peddling of the green levies for net zero making energy more expensive narrative are examples of the damaging misinformation propagated by the #BBC.

Words fail me to describe how deeply and utterly objectionable I find the Tories and their policies targeting migrants legally settled in the UK.
A new low, where will this end.
Thank goodness Labour challenge them on this.

Schäfer household made ravioli for first time last night.
Steep learning curve. Turns out you really mustn’t forget to dust the ravioli board and pasta sheet with flour. Once we had that sussed, it went well.
Result was extremely delicious. Filling was spinach/ricotta/parmiggiano 😋

I wonder why it is increasingly difficult to get willing quality reviewers these days?🤷♂️
Unsurprisingly I declined the offer to review

Even for those of us who follow #climate and #energy matters closely, it can be hard to know what the hell is going on!
So here's a thread to help climate communicators get a grip on how to deal with this 🧵

It’s scary to think that a single violation of the terms could lead to reigniting the war.
Any such event would immediately be suspicious as a potential false-flag operation.
I am not optimistic.

Just fuck off with this. How about start the conversation by highlighting how much immigrants contribute to the UK - not least by propping up the NHS and social care system!
Also - forced volunteering is not volunteering, it's unpaid labour.
