However, I only learned recently that as well as being influenced by the theosophical astrological thought of his day, he also read the ancient sources available to him, e.g. Ptolemy

I love this passage from James Hollis so I put it in a frame. It's not technically poetry but it feels that way to me... currently having transits to both my 4H (Saturn and Neptune heading for 3 ♈︎ personal planets) and another outer heading for my IC... Sharing in case it resonates with you too ✨️

People who use profection: I'm curious - based on your experience, how much weight do you place on the condition of the natal ruler of the profected sign, compared with eg planets present in the sign, or transits to that sign during that period?

I would honestly have read this as satirical in many other contexts, but surely it would be too spiteful to give an author a one-star review for that purpose. Crazy to think that there could be real people who actually carry this vision of world order in their heads, even now.

Reading a lot of James Hollis books atm, and finding it difficult not to have a date of birth for him. My hunch is maybe Jupiter in Pisces from 1938...? something about his emphasis on meaning suggests a dignified Jupiter but would love to see his chart

In Iceland there is a ton of folklore around New Years and the Yule season. Many of these customs are variably attibuted to Yule evening, NYE or the 13th night of Yule (January 6th), but one that's usually more of a NYE is that the hidden folks or elves move houses on this night 📦
