Good thread. In the American Ruhr that used to stretch from Buffalo to Duluth to St. Louis they used to call this kind of thing "metal sense;" an entire ecosystem of workers, companies, knowledge, and culture that built North America's 20th century industrial might. Mostly gone now.

My favorite St Louisism is just everything around 1904. Somehow got the Worlds Fair, threw a hissy fit to get the Olympics at the same time, stealing it away from Chicago. Had the Olympics be a shit show, also took *The* Ferris Wheel from Chicago, then destroyed it and buried in an unmarked grave.

I want democrats who say to everyone “what I believe in isn’t crazy and are worth defending”
Is it hard to ask for a Democratic leader that says “I’m tired of letting these assholes make everything worse? I want veterans to have healthcare and for grandma to have a pension and for kids in wheelchairs have an education and I’m tired of acting like that’s radical leftism.”

A while ago I hazily dreamed up a thing I called “Etruscan Flavor Ice Cream”. Another weird flavor from the Midwest like Blue Moon and Superman. Named because it looked like - to me - Etruscan brown marble. It would have been chocolate, marshmallow fluff, and caramel or toffee.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

I think we should state plainly that this is selfish on its face.
