Okay, posting again this as a message to myself (but for anyone who also needs to hear it):

1. When the news makes you feel paralyzed, close the window. Take a break. You can't help if you're overwhelmed.

2. Focus on the things in your control and take ONE action. Just start w/ a small one.

Recently, CMS updated its guidance on coverage and access requirements for children to ensure they're receiving the health services they need when they need them.

New data on medical student debt from the AAMC:

Average educational debt is up 2% to $205,000.

…but that's for students who incur debt. Nowadays, 29% of students don't.

Meanwhile, 23% of graduates owe >$300,000. (In other words, more debt is being heaped upon a smaller proportion of students.)

The CDC and WHO report a 20% increase in measles cases last year, driven by decreases in vaccination.

This equated to 107,500 DEATHS, mostly in young children.

This, in a PREVENTABLE disease.

Can only imagine what that number will be if we get rid of all mandates.

✨Endorsement for the progesterone IUD✨

🩸very effective contraception
🩸lasts 8 years
🩸~60% of users amenorrheic (no periods)

✨Even better if you can get something for placement as it can be painful✨
PSA: If you’ve been considering an IUD or implant for contraception, or if you’ve got one in place that’s close to the end of its lifespan, now is a good time to get one (or get yours replaced).

A repeal of the ACA could mean a significant increase in the price of these methods.
