Dublin went with trams, Belfast went with Gliders, a far cheaper but still effective alternative. Dedicated lanes and drivers freed from interacting with passengers speed the service. A G1 service is seen here at Stormont.

Sanchez is right: the choice is btwn "becoming closed & impoverished societies or open & prosperous ones". In the Routledge Guide to the European Union, 2nd ed, I wrote that countries discouraging migrants wd be losers; those that welcomed them & fitted them into economies & societies wd be winners.
