I know I should be--I am--grateful that the worst injuries I've gotten so far during my ~3 years of weightlifting have been accidentally whacking my head into things at the gym but dang is it humiliating.

(If anyone notices me wearing way too much makeup on Teams tomorrow, no you didn't)

Hooray for them but this might be the most annoying livecast of a rocket launch I've ever watched.

After delays earlier this week due to cloud coverage and solar storms, Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket could launch in the next hour or so. (There's currently a hold at T-minus 20 seconds to launch.) Watch here:

I dumped my Prime sub and the NBA Pass on the app is terrible, so I’ve started listening to basketball games on the radio again and my god I love it so much.

It also makes me miss Chick Hearn all over again.

10/10 would recommend 📻

Lots of important news flying around today, but take a minute to read Eos's coverage of the failure to meet the Colorado River compact deadline and what that means for nearly everyone who uses water in the American West.
eos.org Eos @eos.org · 6d
Today, water users in the West did not meet the Interior Department deadline to establish a new Colorado River compact. 🧵

Everything is terrible but @jamiebear.bsky.social got some tickets to see Jenny Holzer’s exhibit at Glenstone so at least I got to stand in the dark and think about art for awhile.

Oops I meant to say I’m at Archives-Navy Memorial lol but there’s actually another WCK service at Navy Yard so you’re good either way 🙃
Furloughed feds, come get coffee and a meal from @wck.org at Navy Yard between 11-1 today (and through the shutdown)!

Says assault requires a “reasonable fear of immediate bodily harm,” and none exists given agent’s long-sleeve shirt, long pants, boots, gloves and ballistic vest that is created to “keep you safe from military rifle fire” and so is “definitely going to keep you safe from a sandwich.”

Our local government emulating the way the feds currently govern is really not going to go over well here.
It's kinda wild that in recent months the council has made significant policy changes using emergency bills, and pretty much everyone says it's not an ideal way to legislate... and then they go ahead and do it again.

Everyone involved in this case, including the Border Patrol agent, should be dying of embarrassment being involved in such a ridiculous prosecution.
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."
November 4, 2025 at 5:01 PM
oh my god, this thread is perfect.
Agent Lairmore is done with his testimony. Prosecution asked further about the condiments and he said there was mustard on his uniform and an onion hanging on his radio antenna. Don’t think defense was going for a pun when she called him a “seasoned officer,” but you never know…

That's right.
NEWS: The Trump admin's decision to suspend SNAP benefits due to the shutdown has been blocked. In two cases, both judges found the government action is likely illegal. Although a judge in Mass gave the admin until Monday to reverse course, a judge in Rhode Island issued a TRO from the bench today.
BREAKING: Federal judge rules that the Trump administration likely illegally suspended SNAP benefits, ruling that at least reduced distribution is required to go forward under law using the $6 billion reserve fund.

Judge gives the Trump admin until Monday to respond as to whether it will act.
