Just collected this wonderful book. It doesn’t shy from the difficulties of losing a loved one but might really support children in your care if used with additional sensitive support. ❤️‍🩹

I happened to bump into someone I know through a choir thing I do this evening - and because we’ve briefly chatted before I also know she’s a #SpecialGuardian. I mentioned the march on Sunday. She had heard nothing about it all.

Connection matters more than correction.

Relationships matter most of all.

Please do not show this in schools! Unless you have had a genuinely reflective planning meeting about how and why it fits into your already supportive culture and if you don’t really have one of those, then that’s why not to.
Aside from the pointlessness of showing kids a fictional drama rather than actually doing some legislating, I find it fascinating that officials thought that the barrier to showing a 4hr Netflix drama in school was the subscription, and not a spare 4 hours to show it. www.lbc.co.uk/news/uk/adol...

Important to follow up on this. It also why compliance and punitive behaviour models can create dangerously uncritical yp and adults who are then more easily groomed (in more ways than conspiracies).

Thank you Mark.

Had the best day facilitating an InSet day on embedding SEMH into whole school culture.

Huge thanks to @rachtomlinson.bsky.social for generously sharing her experiences via video link. She’s about 16 years ahead of us today 😃

OK controversial post coming up: let’s focus less on SEND and wrap around care and more on broadening out what schools can nurture as the norm and creating conditions where parents can afford to work less and children don’t have such long days to endure.

Yes!The demands within the week must introduce space for attunement. And that’s not just for recognised SEND but many others including staff. Authenticity & congruence are replaced with masking & automatic detached compliance when demands don’t attune to natural human variations in need & capacity.
I don't see how the DfE finds a solution to helping schools be more inclusive without creating more flexibility in curriculum and approaches to behaviour, less rigid forms of accountability and sorting out the mess that is Ofsted.

Fab trip to London today to share a focus on Co-Regulation.

We started with some feel-good Emotional Contagion’ which created lots of smiles, some foot tapping and humming.

Lots of interaction with the room. Thank you Phoenix School.
