WTH???
DOGE is at again. Yes, DOGE is still a thing. It didn’t just disappear with Elon.

A DOGE leftover, Sam Beyda, is now rumored to be sleeping and showering (eck!) in the CDC Director’s suite. This started during the shutdown. Weird? Right?

Same with the CDC Library, which has been around since 1946.
surprised there hasn’t been more discourse around the illegal firing of NCHS leadership, including those in vital statistics.

Welp—CDC’s entire data team for its legendary national health and nutrition survey (NHANES)—our health census—has been laid off. Now we are flying blind to nutrition and chronic disease status in the U.S.—is this supposed to help us be MAHA? www.statnews.com/2025/10/14/c...
CDC team running top survey on health and nutrition is laid off
NHANES has collected data on eating patterns, diabetes, and other common diseases for decades. The CDC team that runs it has been fired.

CDC is not a Democratic or Republican agency. It's an American agency. One in three employees have been lost in recent months. This is dismantling of our health protections, not reform.

No, we haven’t gotten any word about a rescission just yet.
Anyone know if CDC Library firings were rescinded? Can’t find anything on their status

Congress needs to demand transparency re these CDC firings and what happened. I don't think "miscoding" is the reason nearly 50% of those fired were rescinded. Maybe it was the public awareness that programs like global health, suicide prevention, and measles response were being eliminated...
No one knows what is happening. Now, we are hearing some of the CDC RIF notices might have been in error.
Error = Miscoding

Where are we hearing this? Through media of course! No one is being transparent with CDC staff.

We continue to track the cuts. Stay tuned.

I can't get over how the CDC layoffs are coming less than two months after the attempted mass shooting. The agency is being taken apart brick by brick. The public servants there do not deserve this.

The library is still RIF’d, too. 😢
OOOPS! UPDATE: Two HHS officials tell me that disease detectives, measles response officers, global health officials and the MMWR staff were laid off by mistake and will be reinstated. But Washington office is still RIFed
BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

I hope news reporters pick this up! According to 2018 ACIP documents, working groups are FACA-exempt since they perform in a fact-finding role; do not include a quorum; and, do not vote on policy.

This and the dissolving of the PubMed selection committee do not bode well for the future of NLM within the NIH.
Only found out about this today (we use it for DOCLINE delivery): "The NNLM will end support for delivery.nnlm.gov on Friday, December 19th 2025. The document delivery site will no longer be available after that date, and it will not be replaced with a similar service." #MedLibs
