I was not expecting serious snow today, but here we are at the beach at Coney Island which is covered in snow. The eerie calls of Black Scoters fill the air.

An adult male Red-Tailed Hawk named Christo scarfs down a rat. You can just see the rat's back feet and tail sticking out of the hawk's mouth. Christo looks a little disheveled as he is molting. His wings are dark brown, his chest and legs are mostly white, and his head is light brown and scruffy as he's losing feathers. His eyes resemble chocolate marbles. Christo was a resident of NYC 2013-2025 and we miss him dearly.

Finding it hard to keep it together today. This helps. Tune in to see a baby Bald Eagle (~20 days old) get nurtured and fed by its parents. The chick is small, fuzzy, and adorable.

A minute or two watching this little guy is a nice way to de-stress. 🪶

For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme #Outstretched I am sharing a photo of a female Red-Tailed Hawk I've known for a few years. She is banded and one of her anklets reads "42A" so that's my name for her. She's a beauty. 🪶

This was the first real snowfall of the season in NYC last week. It's all gone now, but this was the scene on Governors Island before the wind blew the crystals from the trees. ❄️
