Those bribes worked well.
In related news about the Washington Post and the state of journalism today, Amazon "ran a $1.2 billion tax bill last year, down from $9 billion the previous year, even as its profits jumped by 45% to nearly $90 billion."

That's in the wake of the 2025 tax bill

Amazon's tax bill plunges after GOP tax cuts
The 87 percent drop is largely due to a more generous depreciation break in the 'One Big Beautiful Bill Act.'

My son's girlfriend teaches autistic toddlers and she always refers to them as her clients. I admire that she's got her priorities straight. So often in corporate it was all about who pays the bills

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a phone

In the videos I watched, the only thing he had in his hand was his phone, filming them. That's what they saw as a threat: exposure.

It's not a Curtis Sittenfeld book until a woman takes an absolutely horrifying dump in a public toilet

Every barbecue in Texas by 7PM: We're out of brisket, we're out of ribs, (voice from the kitchen) we're out of ALL the meats. Wait, we've got sausage and maybe pulled pork. (Voice from the back) No pulled pork either.

So what can I get for y'all?

Nothing says "I deserve a Peace Prize" like threatening war because you didn't get one

We're at the Alamo where a vicious dictator killed white settlers who fought to protect and expand slavery. So everyone sucked.

Yeah I think they are only selling their own branded sodas, and there was a diet cola but it looked like cream soda, and that made me think of Inka Cola in Peru which is very cloying

Yeah it's definitely a thing but now that I've been the low prices and wide variety do not in any way justify the lack of fountain diet Coke

Just experienced Buccees which is like if Walmart took Circle K out in back of the Dairy Queen, got it pregnant, then forced it to pretend the child was its sister.

I've always thought Utah has a lot of churches but JFC Texas has a lot of churches. If any Texans ever say Utah has a lot of churches, we've got a classic beam in eye situation going on.

Remember when police officers looked more like postal workers and not like they were about to kick down doors in a Fallujah apartment building?

My vegan son just got meated in Dallas. Ordered salsa, got sausage queso (a double violation). Meanwhile we found an awesome brisket queso at a downtown food court. Yum!

AOC: I want everybody to understand that the cuts to your health care are what’s paying for this. You get screwed over to pay a bunch of thugs in the street that are shooting mothers in the face.
