I finally got around to see Del Toro's new #Frankenstein. At first I got super confused with the actors speaking Danish, since I was expecting English. Then, I noticed that the ship they used in the movie heavily resembles Fregatten Jylland which is docked in my town (Ebeltoft), pretty cool!

It's cool how we keep proving over and over and over again that there's a significant market for narrative-heavy, character-driven, single-player experiences in video games and publishers just categorically refuse to believe us

Hi @whilefun.bsky.social - great to see you on bsky!
I enjoyed using your asset First Person Exploration Kit on a project a while back. Currently, I'm thinking of starting a new project using it again, so it got me thinking; do you have any updates for the asset planned?

I am not impressed by this translator, to say the least.

Today it is exactly 50 years since this bad boy was released, and I must say, it has aged better than the finest wine.

Fall is upon us 🍂
Summer is great, but I think fall is my favourite season all in all. Reflection and barriers galore!

I finally got around to format my PC and install a fresh distro. I'm super pleased to see that the Gnome desktop environment has become even more refined since whatever version I was on. Unfortunately, installing the proprietary nvidia drivers is still as dreadful as ever. I'll buy AMD next time!

In a surprising move, the Danish Ministry of Digitalization has begun testing phasing out Microsoft in favor of #opensource alternatives. As a Linux user, I find this existing, but I also fear that it will be another half-hearted attempt to quickly fix something that takes a long time to get right.

I teach a game writing class. Students have scripts, worldbuilding docs, treatments, etc due every week

About half the class used ChatGPT last semester even though I made it clear using an LLM = an F. When I asked why a studio would ever hire them if their work was just ChatGPT, they seemed stunned
This past semester was the most stressful of my academic career. I had 180 students and about half cheated at some point in the semester

They submit weekly reflections where the questions are opinion-based, graded only on effort, don't care about grammar

SO MANY students submitted ChatGPT essays
I talked to 15 teachers/professors about how AI and ChatGPT is ruining their lives:

I finally received my updated (physical) driving license, so I can proceed with #Google Play's archaic verification process. I find it so backward that in 2025, I had to wait weeks for a piece of plastic to publish something purely digital.

To anyone using #Linux (Gnome particularly), know that Nautilus (the default file manager) is also an awesome and straightforward FTP client. In case you ever need to fiddle with some web stuff, I recommend giving it a try! It's much nicer than FileZilla :)

...turns out that it is harder to get my ID verified by #Google than making the actual game!
Because of their terrible system, I have to get a new driver's license or passport (even though they are both valid) just to get verified - which will take weeks.

So I was about to release a demo game I have been tinkering with the other day, but Google won't verify my ID. I cannot release it until I am verified (despite having paid the developer fee). It is clearly not humans processing the documentation and their algorithms are shit at reading Danish ID's

Another grant application down! Time to pivot project/fokus again again. I think I'll spend the rest of the week on some very hands-on level tinkering 🧩
Solving academic problems is SO very different from practical unity-bugs kinda problems...

I'm currently doing some research for a PhD project, and I am happy to discover that A LOT has happened within the field of Game Studies since I did my master's thesis in 2015. Specifically, within the theme of ludo <> narrative. That's great, except I now have a whole lot of catching up to do!
