Just wondering if there's already a feed / community of Curriculum for Wales/EWC educators out in the big blue sky? Can't seem to find anything specific. #EduSkyCymru perhaps? #EduSky

If you're interested in why standards of children's reading in Wales are below all the other nations in the UK, this ⬇️ is why.

Estyn do not understand basic educational concepts. Wales deserves better.
I’m sorry to be banging on about reading in schools again but Estyn’s Chief Inspector was asked about how children in Wales should be taught to read and to say his answer was revealing would be an understatement. 👇🧵

Two-thirds of children at risk of exclusion have speech and communication needs. My @london-vru.bsky.social is addressing this with oracy interventions in primary school.

In just one year, it has led to 98% of children narrowing the gap to their peers and 60% meeting vocabulary standards.

Seems from this report that Tяump and Vance were pissed because Zelenskyy wouldn’t sign over mineral rights without security guarantees from the US. Thats not negotiation, that’s extortion.

I found him quite threatening. That said, if it works and the children and teachers are seeing improvement and are happier that’s great. Perhaps it’s dependent on cohort and context - wouldn’t want my own kids to attend a sch that had that kind of ethos. I’d probably fall foul of the uniform rules!
Hey #EduSkyUK and any other #EduSkyCymru out there: what's your thoughts on this recent #Education article going around about a headteacher introducing Saturday detentions?

Is it a necessary and/or effective deterrent?

Looking for advice. I’m a supply covering teaching during an Estyn visit. What is the most effective way I can support the school and colleagues during this time? I know the school well, up on policies, have a good relationship with kids. Go! #UKed #EduSky #EduSkyCymru

Just talking about Maurice Sendak and was reminded about this quote/story.

I absolutely love it.

It always reminds me not forget that children don’t see the world as we we do and neither should we expect them to.

In my new book, The Urban Naturalist (@mitpress.bsky.social), I devote two chapters to the latest in urban evolution research. Such as a cool study on Australian water dragons evolving (like iguanas on the Galápagos) in the archipelago of city parks in Brisbane.
