Eschewing the format’s typical choices from the heyday of 70s album rock, Kopp’s selections expand the big idea behind the concept album to explore how the music continues to endure and the ways the format has undergone a rehabilitation in recent years.

Congrats on your new book, @bradleymorgan.bsky.social Sent me into my ‘archives’ — down memory lane to spring 1979 — for this gem: a final project in an American Studies class on popular music since 1945. We ran the professor’s themes thru the Mothers’ music machine. Epic. Damn, I miss FZ.

We discuss the song's narrative and production and how they blend South American musical pastiches that can be applied to liberation struggles, connecting this with ABBA's success through their use of English and the contradictory ways songs can be both revolutionary and commercial hits.

Frank was a registered Democrat who exclusively voted for democratic candidates.
