You know that person who thinks they're always right and when they are, they never stop telling you, "I told you so?"

I find that insufferable.

What is common knowledge in your field that amazes outsiders:

There are 52 cards in a deck. The number of combinations of those cards is 52!, 52 factorial, and it's an exceptionally large number.

The sun will red giant and engulf the earth before the human race plays all combinations of that deck.

Not just galling to the conspiratorial minded; more like suspicious as hell!!!

Here's the part that gets me on the shutdown: The section prohibiting Trump from firing workers is great! But it wasn't carried through to stop rescissions & withheld funds.
That Democrats knew how to write a No Kings budget, then only passed a tiny section of it to get Tim Kaine's vote, is galling.
The Most Frustrating Thing About the Shutdown Cave - The American Prospect
Senate Democrats actually know how to use their power to counter Donald Trump and ensure that legislative funding gets spent—but this continuing resolution makes it clear they chose not to.

Whelp, here's an institution that has absolutely no justification to be tax exempt any longer.

I think we had one of these lackeys run for our local school board this month. On the plus side, they're a special Texas Stupid, so they're easy to spot, but I bet it plays in some parts of the country.

What’s your all time favorite Hollywood Homely fail? When a woman is meant to be unattractive but she’s gorgeous. Thinking of how Safety Not Guaranteed has a key moment where a man’s ex is in the script old and no longer attractive and she’s a knockout who the movie still plays as old.

Stupid is as stupid does; voting for an idiotic, career con-man with nothing to offer other than an idiot-savant ability to bully, is pretty fuckin' stupid; voting for him twice . . . well, representative democracy had a pretty good run . . .

Seriously? He has no idea how insurance works or how to govern. I’ll never get over 77 million people thinking a man this incompetent belongs anywhere near the Oval Office.

That could be the word to describe the nature of the malignant narcissist's entire regime. Our body politic, the media, and the Republican Party has been comprised of nothing but Uriah Heep style catchfarts since 2016, if not before.

(Spellcheck does not know that word; it soon will!)

Texas has more registered dems than GOP, so there is no guarantee that they will get 5 seats; not if dems and left leaning unaffiliated turn out and vote.

Agreed, most of the leadership in the United States--the hegemony of any various factions--are either rentiers or beholding to the rentier class.

I believe this is why the Democratic hegemony has not made a reversal of the Citizens United decision an absolute platform mandate; the electorate would.
I do think yesterday’s results reinforced the dynamic that while much of the American leadership class is chickenshit, most of the electorate is not

This isn't actually that hard to believe. It does stretch credulity to think that he's as willfully obtuse as he presents himself, but if you know practitioners of the Prosperity Gospel, you'll accept the possibility.

That he lives under a rock, the fridge, or behind the commode, that's on brand.

A shade tree observer might be inclined to think that David Hogg's approach to winning elections trumps Ken Martin's and the DNC wasn't capable or agile enough to recognize that.

Mamdani won *because* he presented an intelligent and engaged departure from the status quo.

That's not the DNC's DNA.
The entire right-wing propaganda machine came after Zohran Mamdani.

The president and his allies came after him.

Democratic leaders, by and large, did not have his back until the last minute.

He still won, turning out historic numbers and inspiring young voters.

His politics can win anywhere.

Petitio principii his ass. If he's going to word salad any answer with gibberish, you might as well set the table by begging the question to at least get some concept entered into the discussion.

This technique won't pass logical proof requirements, but consider the source, that could never happen.
Exactly. Show him his post first. Put it up on a screen. Then ask him virtually any question about any word, phrase, or sentence in it.
