Last year I realised something that has changed my perspective on advocacy

At @walkridegm.org.uk we noticed social media wasn’t having a meaningful impact on active travel delivery, so we shifted our focus to more constructive spaces

Today we rode to demand safer streets for women cycling in winter.

Cycling is joyous but many women feel left out of our movement. It's time that changed.

Pay-per-mile a really effective policy because it encourages drivers to think about each trip they take, rather than driving automatically just because they’ve already paid the fixed costs of owning a car.

They're using Discord to pick the next PM in Nepal but Active Travel people still think it's just an app for gamers 😭

Cycling around Manchester/Salford is just 100x better than it used to be, even if every so often the route just randomly dumps you on a pavement next to a motorway and goes “yeah this will do”. Their rental bikes are also better than the TfL options... when they work.

A MASSIVE campaign win for Walk Ride GM.

It was looking likely that a major cycle route in Manchester was going to be lost forever

The campaign saw over 150 objections to the planning application - which forced the university to reconsider
We did it! @manmetuni.bsky.social has dropped plans to block Cavendish Street to cyclists

A huge thanks to everyone who spoke up with us

Join us at All Saints Park on 4th September at 5pm as we celebrate our success together with a toast to the campaign

Welsh election law now requires local candidates to list their party memberships in the last year. That's good for transparency re. those listed as independents. It also gives us things like this... (Abermaw, Gwynedd by-election, polling this week)

Media coverage is fuelling a backlash against e-bikes. But often, the stories aren't even about e-bikes at all.

Last week, the BBC reported that an "e-bike" was involved in a serious incident. But it was actually a high-powered electric motorbike.

Here's how it got changed...🧵

Our polling found that 81% of people agree there is too much motor traffic around schools - a national consensus!
