Using the hive mind on discord, we were able to to pool together evidence to object to the removal of a cycle lane on campus at Man Met Uni

All this was done without ranting social media. Just a coordinated campaign undertaken by hundreds of determined advocates

So we set up a discord for Walk Ride GM

After a slow start, the discord now has over 400 members all contributing to local campaigns, split into productive regional channels and discussion topics.

Last year I realised something that has changed my perspective on advocacy

At @walkridegm.org.uk we noticed social media wasn’t having a meaningful impact on active travel delivery, so we shifted our focus to more constructive spaces

Hundreds turned out each year to protest the closure of the road to cyclists, but also to protest the unsafe conditions created by speeding drivers.

Today is a massive victory for those who find sanctuary riding the peaks most scenic climb.
