BTW have you read Ammon Bundy's essay which takes the opposite view (that is, a pro-welcoming-the-stranger stance)?

So…I kind of forgot I wasn’t going to be home (where I know all the good places to eat) on Superbowl Sunday.

(No, I do not ordinarily care about it, but in this, the Year of Bad Bunny, I do.)

Does anyone know where to get good Puerto Rican food delivered near Bayside, NY?

naomikritzer.com/2020/06/03/m... is by @naomikritzer.bsky.social from June 3, 2020. It discusses the arsonists who descended on Minneapolis from outside, and how locals came together for community defense.
Minneapolis & Outside Agitators
Something I honestly did not know before this past week is how deeply confusing living through a crisis like this is. Speculation gets turned into rumor gets turned into “I know this for a fa…

The job posting "will close once we have reached a strong pool of candidates, so ... apply early and no later than February 6th at 5pm ET."

And check out the bias mitigation step they request regarding education history on one's résumé: removing school names.

As the English Wikipedia article cites, www.hks.harvard.edu/sites/defaul... "Questions, Answers, and Some Cautionary Updates Regarding the 3.5% Rule" is more nuanced; I found it edifying to read when activists in my circles were propagating a blunter reading of the 3.5% stat

Around 2006 my car got snowed in on Prospect Pl in Bk and the neighbors knew I was a teacher and a coalition of people of various genders, sexuality, race and age begrudgingly dug the car out at 7am without me asking while muttering about how I should buy a shovel. Quintessential nyc!

I love unreliable narrators but am considering writing an *entirely* reliable narrator. Mercilessly self-aware, never gulled by others, god-like capacity to weigh causality. Drug-immune, never suffers those handy fictional forms of insanity. Barely subjective. Holds nothing back. Safe pair of hands.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

Since www.nyc.gov/site/dsny/wh... does not mention any special rule for such property owners, I infer that they would need to ask or pay someone to clear the relevant areas: a path through sidewalks + around fire hydrants + sidewalk curb-cuts and ramps.

Maybe there should be a program to help.

Does anyone know of a good intro undergrad level piece on whether beauty is the aim of art (roughly: must good art also look/sound good)?

It seems like there should be stuff in this area, but I haven't seen it.
