My beloved Mets jacket, that my dad got me years ago, apparently fell off at some point while I was on or between a bus today!

I think we need to have a secondary discourse going to blow off some steam.

Something like: “Would Sherlock Holmes win the hunger games?”

I'm looking for people interested in reading btwn 5 and 50 pages of my new novel, heavily fueled by AI spite

Must be willing to *very honestly* answer questions like "is this confusing" and "what parts are boring" and "would you read more even if you didn't have to"

Probably better if you enjoy SF

A favor: Please describe to me the experience that you consider daydreaming? Or tell me if you don't have such a thing.

I understand it as an imaging yourself in some other situation than you're in. That's not a thing that happens in my brain, though I easily get lost in thought!

A thread by Sigrid Ellis about the tribulations of pain management. Also by Sigrid: www.harihareswara.net/posts/2022/a... "For chronic pain I think a more useful scale would be as follows..."

So I explained that the E.D. does not do chronic pain management. That I might, if I was sobbing or screaming, get a couple hours of fentanyl. Which wears off in 20 minutes.

The P.A. said she hoped I felt better soon.

if you voted in Seattle you gotta make sure your ballot counted now
There are 1,700 ballots that need signature confirmation. That is enough to change the election.

Go. Check. Your. Ballot.

3 days left to nominate books, stories, poems, music, video, fanfic, social media posts, or any other form of #SpeculativeFiction for this year's Otherwise Award jury.

Anyone can make a recommendation, and it's fine to nominate your own work.

A feature I think would actually be useful is “block for 7-10 days” because sometimes a person is annoying in the current discourse and blocking is useful but they don’t need to be permablocked, but also, am I ever going to go through and one by one re-evaluate who I blocked? No not really

Our team will be out all day covering the election, and we want to hear from you. Are there problems or long lines at your polling place? Electioneering? A voting sticker shortage? Drop a line at ask@thecity.nyc.

I got the three most crucial windows plastic-sealed tonight. It's a long process if you want it to last all winter.

- Wash the windows
- Wipe the frame contact surfaces with alcohol and let dry
- Apply the tape, press down, and this is crucial: wait at least 30 minutes
