Very excited about our upcoming Global Oceans unit. I've been working on a decision-making lesson about ocean resources, including seabed mining, fishing and wave power. Should each type of economic activity be stopped, restricted or encouraged? #geogchat #GeographyMastery #ArkCurriculumPlus

Alright squad, tonight's question:

What's the thing you've seen this year that you thought "wow that's a great idea I'm going to do that" and then done it? Could be within your school, or something you saw online or whatever. Anything goes, T&L, behaviour, curriculum, leadership etc

I’ve always been anti booklets but I’m looking at saving lesson time and having a greater focus on students learning and practising in lesson rather than ‘doing’

Would love to talk to someone about their rationale and how you find them in practice.
Has anyone gone down a route of teaching using curriculum booklets even when it’s not a whole-school requirement?
Seriously thinking about investing the time into creating them for GCSE but not 100% convinced yet.

Bluesky is scratching that itch to be able to follow good and reliable information of fast moving international developments that twitter used to. No conspiracy theories or trolls. Quick, efficient, reliable information from reputable journalists. I missed this so much.

Mass bleaching of corals on the Great Barrier Reef in early 2024 was the most severe and most widespread yet recorded - surpassing 1998, 2002, 2016, 2017, 2020 & 2022.

The overall mortality rate this year will exceed the 30% loss in 2016. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Terrible news today:

This year, one-third of coral cover has been destroyed in two northern sections of the Great Barrier reef due to anthropogenic heating.

Results for the southern sections (which were even hotter) have not been officially released.
