Authoritarians love "Gen AI" because it
- Sounds confident even when factually wrong
- Broadly conforms to & reproduces their biases, off the shelf
- Lets them create bespoke realities (text, audio, moving & still image) which agree w/ their biases
- Degrades trust in knowledge/evidence/expertise…

becoming pope 🤝 gender transition:
There are a variety of reasons why I wouldn't want to become Pope, even if I were a Roman Catholic bloke, but I have to admit that "having to choose a name that everyone will regard as hugely significant and read things into, under extreme time pressure" is right up there.
