Accidentally overwrote a save file because I loaded my suspend point instead of saving over it. 😭

Was playing a few matches of #MarvelRivals when a weird Psylocke came after me. She was rubberbanding and her invisibility appeared abnormal. Moments later, this error message appeared, ending the game.
I've never seen this sort of error before. It's very satisfying to see responsive reporting.

I reviewed South of Midnight and I'm floored by it. It has some of the most beautiful level design and art around; the narrative is hauntingly strong and honors Southern Gothic literature perfectly. While the gameloop is repetitive, I never wanted to put it down.

I feel the same about game studios that privilege realism above all else. If it's not in service to the story, aesthetics are just another unnecessary crutch.
"more photorealistic = more good" is not only the most banal aesthetic preference possible, but it completely misses that "photorealistic" is JUST as constructed as any other aesthetic, and therefore cannot think critically about it by definition.

I used to play on the highest difficulty to get most achievements in one go, but many games nowadays don't develop difficulty or achievements in a nuanced way. Adding health, reducing damage without significant changes to enemy programming, tying achievements to story beats, isn't interesting.
If you play video games on the highest difficulty, that's great! 👍
But don't give gamers who play on easier difficulty a hard time about it. Everyone likes to enjoy games differently and there is no right or wrong way to play.

Seeing this kind of behavior all across every industry. Companies pump funds into talent, and then dump people, just like that. Then before you know it, quality declined sharply. We saw it in tech and games in 2020-2022 as well, and now in our government. This is not sustainable.

Redownloading all of my 3DS software. This generation of Nintendo consoles had so much character. I hope the Switch 2 gets it back. The snap is iconic but not very fun.
