I talked with a federal employee today and was told they have been instructed by their higher ups to begin wrapping up to prepare for a shutdown of the federal government on Oct. 1st when the budget bill is not passed.

It is only a matter of time before Abbott has ICE style agents snatch Texas Democratic members of the Texas House off of the streets of Chicago. He attempted this when the Dems fled to Ardmore OK last time.

If Trump leaves office through natural attrition in January 2029, the US will likely stay in a competitive authoritarian state, even if a Democratic president succeeds him repairs some institutions. Only a rebuke of Trump’s anti-democratic ways from his party can correct the course.

I found a little nugget today. I received a robo-text from a politician that I disagree. The text said to reply with Stop to opt out of future text messages. Instead I replied with "F*ck off", but did not use an *, with the same results. I am unsubscribed plus it was mildly cathartic.

One of the problems we have with the order of succession is that each and everyone in line is a worthless pos and unfit to hold office. This is why we must have a changeover in both the house and the senate if for no other reason than to have a stopgap in place.

I have said this before and I will say it again. "I was following order" is not a valid defense against criminal acts.
When this is all over there will be people, a few good but many more bad, who will be held accountable for their actions because they were following orders.

I have a suggestion for not only a new Bluesky rule but every social media outlet. If you post with a link to a deeper look in to the story then the article better not be behind a paywall. I am not getting suckered in to a monthly subscription just to be able to read one article.

@kristinestone.bsky.social Pennies will still be in circulation but the mint will stop producing new ones. Over time the penny will be taken out of circulation as they did in Canada. Prices will still end in cents but the amount will be rounded up or down to the nearest nickel.
