Hi, new #StarWars followers! I'm Amy. I mainly post on books & comics, the High Republic, Jedi Survivor, Star Trek, Feminism, PoC & Queer representation in media, ⚽, 🇵🇸, teaching/mom-ing, language, life in North Africa, & celebrating romance in space stories!
Thanksgiving feast was at 1pm and it was the most epic and classic American feast I've ever had, in or out of the US. Not sure how to proceed when dinner was lunch so now it's 9pm and I'm making curried lentil stew. 🤷🏽♀️

I mourn the loss of Star Wars Twitter once a month because there was some real community in that space and now we're so fragmented, like Jedi post-Order 66.

My son spent a week-long school trip through Morocco visiting places like University of al-Qarawiyyin, one of the oldest universities in the world, founded 859 AD.
When I asked about the highlight of the trip, he replied without hesitation, "The McDonald's in Fes! It was the best one on Earth."😭

After work, I discovered that the best way to fall asleep is to count backwards from 100 in French. By 76, my brain was so tired and upset that it gave up and surrendered to physical exhaustion.

I just made my son practice for IB Spanish class by preparing an impromptu oral presentation on the cultural significance of the 6-7 meme. He totally killed it. I think he's going to do just fine in Spanish.

One second I was playing with audio settings in Netflix, and the next I had watched all of KPDH in French (quality dubbing imo, way better than the Latin American Spanish).

It's been nearly a year since I migrated from the bird site and I'm so grateful for the tranquility & great vibes here. But Pat's High Republic post took me back in there and I saw just how active the Star Wars community remains over there. I miss a lot of those people and I wish they were here 😔.

As a person living outside the US, I will never stop yelling about this. You all have actual gold mines in your neighborhoods. Please go to the library! If nothing else, because you CAN!
Going to the library fucking rules. You can walk in and pick your favorite things and then walk right out without paying anything. It's unbelievable and 100% the kind of thing that won't exist in the future unless you recognize the goodness now before it's too late

Our funding depends on usage.
So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.
