every single successful general strike in US history has had union backing through the local AFL-CIO

this is the first time it’s been called for since the 1940s

I have no skin in this game beyond local pride and wanting the VT local economy to flourish, but shout out to thestickybrand.com

the local promo sticker scene in Burlington is v. good because of them

yes, Rabiot had already scored against the run of play when he came on, but Fullkrug had Milan playing entirely different, even if he did rack up 3 offside calls... at least he was moving defenders around the field!

January 15, 2026 at 10:02 PM
lmao its gonna be so goddamn funny when the authoritarians try to blame this on the NCAA paying athletes instead of it clearly being the fault of betting apps being allowed to run rampant

Mourinho crashing out of 2 clubs in one season before landing back at Real Madrid would be the most Mourinho outcome ever

lol, this take keeps looking better and better

I also think that "Mourinho doesn't make it to the start of next season" is a really good prop bet for someone to make. I've been watching more Benfica than I'd care to admit, and they just don't look like the sum of their parts at the moment...

IMO, short of serious regulations (and, don't get me wrong, we desperately need those on multiple fronts WRT "AI" products), ChatGPT getting ads could be one of the best things... I suspect that as the interface degrades to service paying advertisers, people will stop using it.
January 15, 2026 at 5:19 PM
the GPT interface is clean, free from distractions, and clearly intended to give you a response that is directly related to your input.

Even before the useless AI summaries, you had to train yourself to ignore 1-3 Google ad-word results that mostly had fuck-all to do with your research topic

the door for this was opened by Google fucking up an incredible search algo and research-backed UX design to juice profits

no no, let them cook. "mandatory hard labor for anyone who didn't instinctively question the John Stossel video in 9th grade social studies they were tested on" is a totally reasonable take

further, if you don't see why a discussion about Stalin's version of reeducation isn't applicable to the topic at hand, again: I'm the wallet inspector, and I need to inspect your wallet real quick
January 13, 2026 at 9:48 PM
this isn't "revisionism", it's acknowledging the reality of the USSR.
January 13, 2026 at 9:47 PM
counter to the belief of your average "terminally online Marxist", the USSR was home to many people who interpreted the system of communism differently, and while I acknowledge what Stalin achieved, I also think he wasn't faultless, and his ideas around reeducation weren't great
