We could all stand to be a little more playful at work.

I don't mean trivializing everything. Instead, bringing a lighthearted way of viewing the world.

Play is one of the most important things humans do.

Play is the engine of creation—the spark behind culture, myths, jokes, poems, and stories.

I love @alexanderchee.bsky.social's Bibliomancy assignment — such a great way to encourage exploration of the library, to help students appreciate the value of curiosity and magic of serendipity. I cld see this being ⭐ for first-year composition classes.

the trump / elon drama is all theater.

it's a preview of what to come - instead of democrats and republicans, your "choice" in the new kleptocracy is between MAGA or DOGE

DuckDuckGo everyone its better than Google today
I asked Google “what is the opening line of Toni Morrison’s novel Song of Solomon?” I know it roughly but I wanted the exact wording.

Google now inflicts AI responses on all searches. I was startled by just how incorrect the AI response was. Like, my god. Is this what people are using????

Oh you think that "javascript is a bad language," do you? All computer languages are bad. Javscript is just chaotic evil and what you want is lawful.

There is no such thing as a good computer language because *any* attempt to speak to rocks and make them think is the behavior of warlocks.

A test of how seriously your firm is taking AI: when o-1 (& the new Gemini model) came out this week, were there assigned folks who immediately ran the model through your internal, validated, firm-specific benchmarks to see how useful it as? Did you update any plans or goals as a result?

Failure mode I've noticed in myself: Believing I have to read an article or book about the thing before I attempt the thing

It's procrastination disguised as intellectualism

From now on no think only do. 2025 is gonna be my Leeroy Jenkins year

side project idea: tool that does this for BlueSky as a browser extension, doesn't store anything

When I've used unrollers I didn't care about archiving, only a more readable layout more suitable for longform content
I have had to ask WAY too many people not to do this lately, so a reminder: "unroll" and "thread reader" apps are content theft. Please do not use them on other people's content unless you know they're okay with it. I am not okay with it.

A lot of tech professionals forget the humanity aspect in tech and forgo how sometimes considering people’s feedback before implementing can actually go a long way and garner support. But many just do things and then try to “oops!” After.

Come on now.
