Went to my pals’ Friendsgiving and had deep fried turkey for the first time and now that’s how you do that. 10/10 no notes and between that and the leftovers from my parents I am not cooking for the rest of the week.

Couldn’t find the third foot for my cheapo fake Xmas tree, tore the house apart, gave it up for lost in the storm move chaos, bought a new cheapo fake Xmas tree, opened the box of ornaments and guess what was on top? Also anyone want a cheapo fake Xmas tree so I don’t have to have 2?

Uneventful small family Thanksgiving! My mom made a big ass turkey even though no one likes roast turkey because my dad makes a fantastic turkey soup. I did not fight my sister even though she ate more of the stuffing.

Impulse bought a crochet hook and yarn in my latest attempt to learn to destress without disassociating into a video game at least some of the time. Kate cannot live by Fallout 76 alone, at least my blood pressure thinks so. I tried knitting back when I was quitting cigs and oh that did not work!

Called an ambulance for a guy who turned out to be wasted drunk at 1:30 pm. Very glad he was just a Big Napper and not comatose! I almost stuck Narcan up his nose but he woke up before, thankfully. Boy we are just speedrunning the dystopia, eh?

I’m one of the negotiators for our union contract and I’m in the vastly weird position of trying to get a cost of living increase for everybody while knowing full well some people will be laid off possibly including me for completely unrelated reasons and how shitty that will feel for everyone.

Did some Youth Outreach at the charter high school parent teacher conferences and I am both surprised and delighted at my ability to get along with the youths (which I forever hear as “yutes” because I have seen My Cousin Vinny 500 times). I have “weird auntie” vibes or something.

Took a long weekend for a) a union meeting that did not happen b) a lumberjack visit that did not happen so I declared it Self Care Time. I leveled up my Fallout 76 character 2x so far and got the nicest haircut of my adult life. (Hair by Dani out of the Lash Call!)

I knew I’d reached Middle Age today when I had a doctor’s appointment and my first internal reaction to seeing the extremely competent and pleasant physician’s assistant was: “Oh god a child is taking my blood pressure”. A child with more education than my ass. And better blood pressure.

Between my plants, my parents’ garden, and my ex’s garden (I am fortunate that was an amicable breakup!) I have seven distinct varieties of chile pepper in my fridge right now. (Habanero, jalapeño, cayenne, Hatch, Sugar Rush Peach, Corno di Toro, Thai bird’s eye)

On my second ever business trip/work conference! I ate some fantastic Indian food and must take back at least a couple unkind remarks I’ve made about St. Cloud. People-watching in the hotel bar makes me supremely glad I’m just here to observe and not hook up. Human mating rituals are hilarious.

Possible layoffs have emboldened me to burn every scrap of PTO. Which means I took sick time to go up north and help the lumberjack refurbish a secondhand golf cart. Why yes it does need an extra seat on the back! And a cooler! Yes I do want to test drive it too please and thank you!

My optometrist and her staff are not only efficient and gentle but compliment my eyeballs frequently. Like “Nice retinas! Very healthy, good job!” I don’t know if I just look like I need a little praise or if I just have particularly spiffy retinas, but I’ll take it.

Going to my second ever professional conference next week and there are numerous delicious international dining options within walking distance including my favorite Ethiopian restaurant. Greek! Filipino! Indian! And I get a damn meal reimbursement budget. Enjoy the shit out of it while I can!
