Hello Econ followers,

This chart is one that sits in my mind rent free. I also see it as a core explanation of the rise of anti-elite right wing populism (Trump and others) that is perhaps sarcastically expressed with this associated meme.
This is a thought that’s gonna fester with me for a while!
The smartest people in the world today are not focused on solving the world's problems.

No, they are all employed specifically to grab an increasing share of our collective attention, by whatever algorithmic magic they can muster.

I think that this is the essence of our global polycrisis.

And Fox lost its mind when Obama wore a tan suit…
Excuse me? So the company the President currently owns is teaming up with a cryptocurrency company to create a prediction market, which will take bets... on things the President himself has quite a lot of control over?

Gosh, I'm sure nothing bad will happen.

Tories like Lougheed designed the notwithstanding clause.

Tories today need to stand up and defend it against populists like Danielle Smith.

456,365 #ForeverCanadian signatures (plus few dozen last minute arrivals). I’m told it’s the biggest petition in Canada’s history.

None of this would happen if not for thousands of volunteers and your love for Canada.🇨🇦

Thank you! This is Alberta’s and Canada’s victory.

Finally listened to this podcast about a book I’ve seen everywhere. Turned out it mimics my own phrase “Not my circus; Not my monkeys”. Maybe I can repackage that and become a self-help guru with fun monkey images for my branding!

Seriously though, this is a great pod! Keep up the good work!
Episode 39: The Let Them Theory

The self-help craze sweeping the nation tells you to “let them.” If someone cuts you off in traffic, let them. If your friends are ignoring you, let them. If a popular self-help author plagiarizes your idea and turns it into a book, LET THEM.

So my partner who isn’t on this platform was diagnosed with celiac disease today. I’d appreciate any and all tips (and share widely) on how a partner can support a Celiac partner.

Today was a mix of library cookbook scans and perusal of local grocery stores for GF items to learn label reading.

Kory’s argument that the G7 has inverted from being a US led to a US focused forum (opp to manage/contain US by other leaders) is a very interesting take to think about the shifting geopolitical sands.

Part of the reason even Bluesky fails to meet Twitter Pre-Musk. I have Politics, Journalism, and News selected as my preferences and I get Deadpool Game as top pick of what’s going on when I’m curious about LA protests. 🙄

Exactly. Referees aren’t there to manage the game, they are there to enforce the rules.
