Even before yesterday, the electors of Rochdale had a pretty good claim to have been making more terrible choices about who should represent them over the last half-century than those in any other constituency.

Leadership rules have changed since the 90s. To tack to the centre they need to insulate those elections from the membership. But that requires consensus that doesn’t exist.

I saw a clip of Rory Stewart talking about AI replacing GP's and reinventing the NHS the other day. Yes it's just one ex politician turned podcaster but if the policy is being led by the hype rather than understanding the real limitations of the product it's a huge problem.

Sunak's clearly willing to buy whatever bridge a silicone valley bro wants to sell him. Blair is happily hoovering up Larry Ellison's money and talking about how AI will let gov shrink the civil service to bathtub size (to mildly paraphrase). I hope there's a counter to the sales machine somewhere.

Sorry hold the fuck up

Those sturgeon farms are in Guizhou??????

That is literally on the opposite side of the entirety of fucking China from where sturgeon are natively found
I, uh, straight up just don't believe that China caviar story, sorry. Or rather I am convinced this will end badly somehow. Fish farms aren't actually somehow an ecologically sustainable form of growing fish stocks.

Richard Aboulafia really knows the aerospace business.

He says that several waves of accounting/ finance—minded "leaders" are en route to destroying what had been proudest symbol of US tech/manufacturing excellence.

Opinion: Can Boeing’s Misguided Leaders Be Stopped? | Aviation Week Network
We may be witnessing the slow demise of what was once the world’s greatest aerospace company, with few identifiable roadblocks to an act of self-immolation.
