also engagement is factually just way worse, god forbid you do furry / nsfw or be left wing, you're shadow banned into oblivion and with enough luck your stuff will get traction in a week or more

Twitter followers are FAKE. They aren't real. NO, you do NOT have 10k followers, 40% are actual followers AT MOST.
60% of that number is Bots, and... is straight up fake. I promise you. And here's my experience with twitter:

I have a long weekend now, which means I can sleep a lot. Yes, I always sleep with Blaze. It's reliable protection. And he's very warm. Snuggling up in his warm feathers is bliss. He doesn't stink, because a shower before bed is a must.
