Our latest BTO ringing recoveries inc. a young Chiffchaff ringed at #SkipwithCommon NNR (presumably on passage) on 01/09/25, which was then controlled by ringers just 24 days later, 701 km away in Trunvel, Treogat, Finistère, France @yorkbirding.bsky.social

Upper Derwent Valley this afternoon :- 450 Pinks, 11 White-Fronts, 1 Barnacle, 120 Canadas, 90 Greylag, 1 Shoveler, 150 Lapwing, 2 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 1 Merlin, 100+ Wigeon/Teal. Alot of Flood Water after this weeks deluge.

57 Greylag, 350 Wigeon, 2 Kestrel, 750 Pinks, 1 Whitefront, 1 Common Buzzard, 2 CC Marsh Harriers, 12 Fieldfare, 250 Lapwing.

A walk around the local patch #dalbyforest was particularly quiet. Only a pair of Goshawks brightened the day.
What was noteworthy was no Crossbills in any of the favoured areas. Other birders have noticed this to. They should be nesting in a few weeks. Where are they? @northyorksbirds.bsky.social

2 hours on the North York Moors this afternoon was pretty dire. 1 Red Kite a few Red Grouse and a couple of Corvids.

We dug 7 ponds in our field earlier in the year and they’ve been bone dry all summer. Thankfully November has completely changed the weather and now the ponds are filling and looking good. @northyorksbirds.bsky.social
