Archivist, running, walking, Newcastle. Opinions are my own, obviously.
Quite glad I decided to catch a bus rather than my 8 mile cycle commute this morning! But. Also hoping it doesn't snow all day otherwise geting homr again might be fun!

A nice autumnal morning for volunteering at Parkrun! Its not raining, yet, but is cloudy!

"Tom Daylee"! - The Traitors and with it the dodgy spelling and grammar of the round table is BACK!

Volunteered at a blustery Jesmond Dene Parkrun this morning, now I'm off to Carlisle ahead of running a half marathon tomorrow. Hoping the wind has died down a bit by then or it might be a tad irritating!

Volunteering at an autumnal Parkrun this morning. Expecting it to be busy as it's GNR weekend and it looks like lots of visitors!

Looks like the excitement of having a local team to cheer along in this year's #universitychallenge is short lived. At least Newcastle made it to the TV stages though.

Time for my annual 'oh #universitychallenge is starting again' post. I am genuinly surprised it's starting quite so soo after after the equinox, but maybe age is catching up with me!

Chose today as the 1st day in about 3 months to choose a 50 minute cycle ride to work.

In related news today is also the 1st day in about 3 months it has actually, properly, rained.

I am now home, wet, and have discovered if I want to I can do my 50 minute cycle commute in about 40 minutes.🙃

Before and after pics of my Edinburgh Half Marathon this morning. It was bright enough that the sunglasses came in handy.

Volunteering at Jesmond Dene Parkrun (rather than running) ahead of popping up to Edinburgh for the Half Marathon tomorrow. I'm sort of happy that it rained...

#Eurovision final time. I have no idea how the Estonian song managed to survive the semi-final.
May 17, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Tonight's #eurovison semifinal has had some classically unhinged euro-pop songs so far. Hoping the madness hasn't been front loaded into the running order.

#eurovison semi-final time. A few bland entries so far. It might be the novelty staging but I'm not bowled over by the Swedish song. If it's supposed to be favourite I'm not sire that to expect later!

Bet the #wdytya film crew were happy when they discovered they were following Leyton to Jamaica for a spot of filming! He could have called Aunty's Sandy from the UK first though, just to be sure!

Have discovered a new series of Who Do You Think You Are. Quite strong militarial vibes in tonight's episode. Intersting as it is, I'm hoping it's not a thread running through the whole series.

It's the end of April and I've just noticed I already have a lighter band around my wrist when I take my watch off to charge it up. I maybe need to go and buy some sunscreen! #RunnerProblems

I'm hoping my use of apostrophes improves when I get into my 40s tomorrow.
Today's #Archive30 theme is #minimilestones

The School of Engineering's Marine Technology Special Collection was transferred to us last year, and a mini milestone in our work in developing the collection is digitisation of these photos of ship's built at Wm Armstrong's Elswick shipyard on the Tyne.

Sunny morning for volunteering at Parkrun in Jesmond Dene. It does mean I've suffering from hay-fever though!

The little man who lives inside my Duolingo app got a bit frustrated with my progress earlier today.

Joy for a new series of #GrandDesigns!

23 tonnes of steel on top of polystyrene might end up with quite a top heavy structure! I imagine there's a good reason boaty things have heavy things (like concrete) at the bottom!

Enjoying a quite relaxing few days in the Lake District. Unlike last year's visit I've actually had decent weather and ticked off a few straggling Wainwright's. Home tomorrow, via another maybe!

Another Saturday morning and another Parkrun volunteer credit. A different view this week though at Jesmond Dene, and my first ever time scanning barcodes and finish tokens. #parkrun

Volunteering at Parkrun. It almost feels like spring is just around the corner!

Filled in my details on an online quote comparison site for a thing. Clicked OK, only for the next page to say one of their agents will be calling me shortly to discuss my quote.

Excuse me, if I wanted to speak to someone on the phone about it I'd phoneup. I don't - I won't be answering.

I have a 2 hour virtual meeting today at work. There are currently contractors working on the roof of the building, as my mum would say they sound like a pet elephant. I hope I don't have to explain what the racket is. Also the anxiety that something heavy from the roof might join me in the meeting.
