As a semi-professional photographer and amateur archivist, it kills me when people share photos by screenshotting them on their phones. I get that it's now always obvious how to download original copies, but I feel like most people aren't aware (or care) about the lost fidelity. 🙁

It doesn't seem like this should work, but it does.

When this comes out, there will have been more time between the 2 movies than between the 1st movie and the launch of the Simpsons in 1989.
all-new The Simpsons movie coming July 23, 2027

Bruh, Halo 3 is 18 years old. I can't believe they're still charging to play it online.

we used to build household shrines to Going On The Computer and it's no coincidence that as we abandoned these we started straying further from god's light

Did you know the Japan exclusive game Thousand Land had DLC?

I didn't either until cheato of Alpha Archive found 5 of 18 previously unknown DLC maps just a few days ago.

These maps have been archived and are now available on Rocky5's URL Downloader.

It doesn't seem like this should work, but it totally does! You can even still video chat with others over Insignia (Xbox Live) in 2025.

Here's a guide on how you can mod an Eyetoy to work on Og Xbox:

Xbox One thumbsticks on Original Xbox controllers are a winning combination. 👏

Feels so crispy and fresh.

Skeleton Key is a freely available community built toolkit for the Original Xbox that runs on stock (unmodded) consoles

- Softmod your console (Rocky5)
- Change your video settings
- Access your hard drive
- Upload lost DLC content (XCAT)
- Register with Insignia (Xbox Live replacement)
(and more)

MakeMHz has issued a DMCA takedown against Pandora, an automated way of accessing Xbins. Xbins is a repository of homebrew apps, games, and BIOSes for the Original Xbox that has been around for many, many years. Xbins still exists, but Pandora is now unavailable to download or be developed publicly.

Hey @lovemhz.bsky.social looks like Microsoft stole your delay durations from Stellar too. Might want to send them a DMCA takedown or something. Idk

To help make up for lost sales due to fake DMCA takedowns on their shops, I gave an unlimited license to two shops for my Xbox Trace Fix repair kit card.

This is essentially a fancier version of the individual kits I released the gerbers to in January.
Trace Fix Repair Card Kit — Darkone Customs
Compatible across all XBOX’s Each kit includes the following: 1x Trace Fix Repair Kit (contains 1× 1.0-1.1 boards, 1× 1.2-1.6 boards, 2x D0-ET adapters) 2x FFC cable Installation instructions: ...

That's a shame. This means once OXHD comes out, it won't be able to be discussed on ogxbox.com, even though it's entirely its own project and shares no lineage, code, or designs from MakeMHz's HD+ product.

I can assume this is the intended outcome from throwing around so many DMCA threats.
Thank you to the owner of the OGXbox forums for handling this situation professionally.

Hot take (?): Homebrew developers who use 1st-party source code / dev software leaks for a retired game console shouldn't be treated as thieves and scoundrels. It's what's keeping it alive and relevant 20 yrs later.

I'm pretty late on this one to be honest (released the gerbers 6 months ago) though I am trying to catch up on the social media "obligations".

Xbox front panel trace fix kits. A pointless little project that a friend kept nagging me to get done:

How you paint an Xbox indoors when it's summer time in Arizona. Total Harbor Bay Butcher vibes.

Also, how to *not* protect a camera from getting paint specks on it.

#originalxbox dashboard running in 720p looks so good. It's a shame the devs never made it run like this back in the day. It really shows off all the 3D work put into scenes. 😍

PSA (again)- if the help content for your app simply says "turns X feature on or off", then you do NOT have help for that feature!

I'm so tired of reaching for the manual and getting as much explanation as my own two eyes can see. Well duh, but what is that feature?? What does it do?! smdh 🙄

I bought a clock that has a little projector to shine the time on the ceiling. I caught a glance of it at 4:04am, and for a brief moment it felt like I was being summoned to fix a website, bat-signal style.

Exciting news from Prehistoricman. He's figured out how to flash v1.6 #OriginalXbox systems! For 20 years, this nut hasn't been cracked, but now, for the first time, all Xbox consoles will be able to be hardmodded without using a modchip.
